As part of the European Green Deal, and to achieve a climate-neutral Europe by 2050, the Commission will table a ‘Fit for 55’ package to reduce emissions by at least 55% by 2030. The second revision of the RED II will contribute to achieve climate neutrality. The 2009 RED envisaged a 20% share of renewables in final energy consumption by 2020, the 2018 RED I a 32% share and the draft RED II is looking for approximately a 40% share.

The main objective of the ANTICSS project is to detect and prevent circumvention behaviour. Within the project the notions of circumvention and jeopardy effects have been identified. A few Room Air Conditioners and Liquid Chilling Packages have been subjected to applicable and alternative testing to detect circumvention, as have been other products. The consultants are now looking for the industry views on the recommendations they would present to the policy makers.

<p>On 3 May, the European Commission submitted to Member States representatives under the ‘comitology’ procedure a ‘Commission decision on a sectoral reference document on best environmental management practices, environmental performance indicators and benchmarks of excellence for the fabricated metal products manufacturing sector’. Eurovent has requested access to this draft and would receive this by 7 June at latest.</p>

On 21 April, the European Commission adopted a proposal for a Regulation on machinery products. This Regulation would have the effect of repealing and replacing the so-called Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC). The proposal is open for feedback from the public until 5 July 2021.

The Commission has submitted the Roadmap for feedback within 4 weeks. After this period, a dedicated meeting of the Consultation Forum will be organised to discuss the preparation of the Working Plan. It is expected that the Working Plan could be published in the third quarter of 2021. Of the possible new items listed two may be relevant to Eurovent: swimming pool heaters and industrial sensors. Relevant to all members will be horizontal measures relating to lightweight design, recycled content, ecological profile, durability, firmware and software, scarce and critical raw materials.

New version of EPREL (UI: 1.44.0, Exchange model: 2.7.10) has been released in the PRODUCTION environment on Friday, 30 April 2021. New version of ACCEPTANCE (Software: 1.45.0) has been released on Monday, 10 May 2021.
